Duchamp's Brings Rare Physical Pieces with Matching NFT to Auction

Duchamp's, the online auction house founded earlier this year by Julien Lafon and Will Holley, is continuing to rethink the art and collectibles market by offering auction opportunities for which successful winners will receive both physical assets and unique NFTs. Duchamp's differentiates itself with a venture-backed team of collectors, investors and experts that help interested parties source, authenticate, auction and deliver one-of-a-kind pieces, all on the blockchain. To celebrate its recent launch, the house is presenting two extremely rare assets in a single auction along with NFTs that will legally certify ownership on-chain. The new auction, which begins April 9 at 5 p.m. EST, will include a Magic: The Gathering card paired with a highly sought-after Rolex Daytona watch.

Duchamp's latest auction features Magic: The Gathering's most iconic card, which was originally released in 1993 by Wizards of the Coast, Black Lotus. This Unlimited Black Lotus card is extremely rare and has received a 10 Gem Mint grade from PSA, the largest and most trusted third-party grading company in the world. Due to a rushed initial printing by Wizards of the Coast, this card features numerous imperfections, ink dots and roller lines throughout its surface. Meticulously stored and professionally maintained by a single owner since it was graded in the early 2000s, this Black Lotus card is in the top echelon of cultural assets.

The event also includes a refreshed Rolex Daytona 116500LN with a white face. Since its introduction in 2016, this highly coveted watch is known to collectors as one of the most talked-about timepiece releases and has a minimum 5-year waitlist. With high secondary market prices, the 116500LN from Rolex is extremely rare and in demand. Duchamp's Rolex watch is in excellent condition and includes a wooden Rolex Green Wave Box with all associated papers of original purchase. Worn by cultural legends like Eric Clapton, John Mayer and Jay-Z, the Daytona model is known for reaching record-setting prices at auction.

Unlike other auctions, both the Magic: The Gathering card and the Rolex 116500LN being offered by Duchamp's are backed by legally binding NFTs that prove provenance and ownership. For more information about the auction, head over to the auction house's website.
