Issa Rae -- best known as co-creator, co-writer and star of Insecure -- is set to join the voice cast of the upcoming Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse sequel. As first reported by Hollywood Reporter, Rae is the first new cast member to join the film, which is slated to release on October 7 2022.
Rae will appear alongside Shameik Moore and Hailee Steinfeld, both of whom will be reprising their roles (Miles Morales and Gwen Stacy/Spider-Woman respectively) from the first movie. While Rae's role in the sequel is unconfirmed, it is reported that she will be the voice of Jessica Drew/Spider-Woman.
The follow up to 2018's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse will feature Phil Lord and Chris Miller as writers alongside David Callahan, while Lord and Miller also return as producers. The film, which is currently untitled, will be directed by Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers and Justin K. Thompson.
