Montblanc Honors Enzo Ferrari in its Latest Great Characters Edition Pen Collection

Montblanc has revealed a new Great Characters Edition pen collection paying tribute to the automotive pioneer Enzo Ferrari, who now joins renowned figures such as Walt Disney, Andy Warhol, Elvis Presley and Albert Einstein as the latest featured in Montblanc's limited-edition series.

Born on February 18, 1898, in Modena Italy, Enzo Ferrari started his career as an accomplished professional racing driver for Costruzioni Meccanich Nazionali before he founded the infamous Scuderia Ferrari racing team at 31, and subsequently the Ferrari automobile company. Since its first Ferrari-badged car was released in 1947, the sports car manufacturer has become a global symbol of speed and luxury and continues to compete at the highest level in Formula One,  in which it takes the title as the oldest team with the most constructor Grand Prix wins.

The Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Special Edition pens proudly display Ferrari's signature color "Rosso 70 Anni" on the cap and barrel. The year 1898 when he was born and the year 1923 when he won his first race are marked on the cone. "You cannot describe passion, you can only live it" is laser-engraved on the metal ruthenium-coated clip and the top ring on the cap features additional “OFFICINA MECCANICA ALFREDO FERRARI" engraving referencing Ferrari's father and his birthplace.

The Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Limited Edition 1898 pens will be limited to 1898 pieces, to mark the year of Enzo Ferrari's birth. The cap and barrel are made from metal evoking the surface of the original Ferrari 125 S engine, and the Montblanc emblem set atop the pens are in frosted quartz to resemble the frozen windows in which Enzo Ferrari would practice his signature as a young boy.

Lastly, the Great Characters Enzo Ferrari Limited Edition 98 will be limited to just 98 pieces paying homage to Cavallino Rampante, the iconic Prancing Horse first featured on Ferrari's emblem 98 years ago. The pen's design is built to mimic the bodywork of the 1952 Ferrari 500 F2, the winner of the first F1 Championship for Scuderia. Each piece is airbrush lacquered by hand in “Rosso Corsa”, the official racing color of Italian vehicles and drivers along with a great number of engravings and embellishments celebrating Enzo Ferrari's successes including the quote "I am one who dreamt to be Enzo Ferrari" in Italian.

Each Enzo Ferrari Great Characters Edition collection pen is made available as a rollerball, ballpoint, and fountain pen fitted with a solid gold rhodium-coated nib engraved with a Ferrari 250 GTO wheel.

The limited-edition pens are now available at Montblanc's website and boutiques worldwide.
