Tyrese Gibson Reveals He Reconnected With Dwayne Johnson After Their Feud

Tyrese Gibson recently spoke to guest host Tiffany Haddish on the latest episode of The Ellen Show, touching on his feud with fellow Fast & Furious movie star, Dwyane "The Rock" Johnson.

Dwayne Johnson and Gibson's famous 2017 social media feud was ignited by The Rock move to star in the first-ever Fast & Furious spinoff, Hobbs & Shaw with Jason Statham. Gibson took to social media and sounded off on Johnson's decision, expressing that he felt betrayed. He also blamed The Rock's busy schedule for F9's delayed 2020 release date, but Johnson refuted that he was simply making business moves.

Gibson revealed to Haddish that they were able to reconnect, "We’ve been on the phone every other day. We reconnected in a real way. I think we’re both better men on the other side of all that stuff that went down. To be honest, I didn’t know how the phone call would happen. But it did happen and we’re about 20 phone calls in. We’re in a competition right now on who can leave the longest voice note."

In the interview, Gibson also took the opportunity to speak about the upcoming film's return to U.S. theaters, "Honestly, this is going to be the most vulnerable Fast that we have done. It’s one thing for you to confront bad guys, and it’s another thing for your bad guy that happens to be your brother. It’s a different kind of vulnerability."

F9 hits American theaters on July 2. In the meantime, check out the full discussion above.

In other entertainment news, Alex Trebek and Larry King posthumously win at 2021 Daytime Emmys.
