Off-White™'s Virgil Abloh Applies "SOUND ENGINEERING" to Pioneer's DJ Controller

There's no denying Virgil Abloh is a multifaceted creator, heading up his label Off-White™ while working at Louis Vuitton and lending his hand to furniture design, consultation, and DJing, and now the prolific collaborator has teamed up with Pioneer to tap into the latter of his loves on a capsule collection and DJ controller.

Taking the Pioneer DDJ-1000 for the base, Off-White™ adds signature design cues in a hazardous white and orange color scheme to create the aptly named DDJ-1000-OW. This controller comes under Abloh's "SOUND ENGINEERING" process, so it features plenty of 'conceptual' ideas that are an Abloh trope such as the quotation marks found throughout his work, dual branding on the fluorescent orange and matte white areas, and because it's a DDJ-1000, it also inherits the set-up of both the CDJ-2000NXS2 and DJM-900NXS2 while remaining a 4-channel layout.

In addition to the DJ controller is a capsule collection called "SOUND ENGINEERING," comprising T-shirts, hoodies and a coach jacket that are each made from cotton canvas. Here, silk-screen printed graphics using fluorescent green ink creates graphics inspired by both Off-White™ and Pioneer's past, as well as the collaborative DDJ-1000-OW which can be seen printed onto pieces in a deconstructed form alongside the Off-White™ cross.

"As with the skeleton CDJ and DJM I designed with Pioneer DJ, I wanted to take this opportunity to bring together technology and human interaction," says Virgil Abloh. "And this time we took it one step further with 'SOUND ENGINEERING' bringing together this medium that unites so many of us with a fashion element. Both music and fashion, in my opinion, are these intense forces that have the unique power to bring people together while letting you make your own statement all at the same time."

The collection can be seen in full above, and the clothing drop is going to be available from the Off-White™ website and select stores worldwide imminently. As for the DJ controller, it is available to purchase exclusively through a raffle win on the Selfridges App, which is open from 9 a.m. BST on July 15 until 12 p.m. BST on the same day.

In other news, Gucci has tapped 100 Thieves for a capsule collection.
