Meet the $100,000 USD Space Jam: A New Legacy Tourbillon Collector Set

Kross Studio has created what’s likely to be the most expensive piece of merchandise attached to Space Jam: A New Legacy, with its $100,000 USD central tourbillon collector set.

Following the new Swiss brand’s Star Wars Death Star Tourbillon, comes another piece of haute horology where the packaging is as important as the watch.

Developed with Warner Bros. Consumer Products, the 10-piece limited edition set includes a watch with a centrally mounted tourbillon presented in “an interactive basketball sculpture.”

The 45mm titanium watch is based around the 3Hz manually wound KS 7000 calibre made in-house at Kross Studio. The movement offers a five-day power reserve using an oversized mainspring barrel on top of which the tourbillon, held within a basketball-style cage, is mounted. Other B-Ball cues include a peripheral hour hand shaped like a free throw lane, picked out in white blue emission Super-LumiNova.

Winding and time setting are performed using the D-ring on the caseback and a “Time Set” selector mounted in the caseband at the three o’clock position. But the focus of any Space Jam movies is the Tunes Squad, who appear here engraved on the fixed hour wheel.

The watch is supplied with two straps: one in blue calfskin leather and the other in laser-abraded orange rubber which reproduces the look and feel of a basketball.

But the presentation box is every bit as special as the watch, a kinetic sculpture in the form of a basketball, constructed of aluminum and 11 layers of oak with the Looney Tunes characters illustrated on the stand. But, with a twist, the layers are unlocked and can be raised to reveal a housing to keep the watch safe.

The ten-piece limited edition run of the Space Jam: A New Legacy Collector Set is out now via Kross Studio, priced $100,000 USD.
