Amalgam's 1:8 Scale 1969 GT40 Will Set You Back $13,000 USD

Renowned for its impeccable automotive scale models, Amalgam Collection has now chosen to celebrate a truly legendary racer: the 1969 Ford GT40, driven to victory at Le Mans that year by Jacky Ickx and Jackie Oliver.

Measuring over 20 inches long, the model car has been painstakingly hand-built over the course of 400 hours to ensure that no detail has been omitted. Development of the replica itself took a staggering 4,000 hours and was created with official assistance from the Ford Archive and Heritage department as well as Gulf Oil International. Thousands of precisely engineered parts come together, ranging from photo-ethics to CNC machined components. To make things even more exclusive, only 199 units have been made, although those who purchase one of the first 50 models will also receive a Giclée art print of Rainer Schlegelmilch's photograph of the Ford GT40 during the early stages of the 1969 24 Hours of Le Mans.

For those interested and have $13,000 USD spare, you can now pre-order the 1:8 scale 1969 Le Mans-winning Ford GT40 replica over at Amalgam Collection.

Elsewhere in design, the MoMA Design Store has teamed up with Medicom Toy for a Starry Night BE@RBRICK.
