The Ritz-Carlton has opened a new property in the Maldives with a selection of overwater and beachside villas.
A 10-minute seaplane ride from Velana International Airport (or 45 minutes by boat), The Ritz-Carlton Maldives, Fari Islands, offers the ultimate exotic getaway. Equipped with modern facilities designed by late Australian architect Kerry Hill, who drew inspiration from the lagoon's circular formation, the state-of-the art resort hosts over 100 private stays.
The beachfront villas provide immediate access to the island's picture-perfect white sand beaches, while the on-water residencies nod to the flow of island life and circle around a centrally located spa. The oval-shaped, nine-room spa, which floats on the lagoon, utilizes local ingredients, including heated sand, fresh coconuts and herbs, to enhance signature treatments.
The villas themselves boast private pools, indoor-outdoor showers, sizable lounge space and either direct beach access or overwater hammocks, depending on their location.
As for the full amenities, guests receive round-the-clock service from an "aris meeha," or personal butler, who tailors each travel experience with organized activities including drum performances at sunset, Maldivian cooking courses, beach cricket games and kids' arts and crafts. Additionally, guests can swim in the open water alongside a resident pod of dolphins, thanks to experts from Jean-Micchel Cousteau's Ambassadors of the Environment Program.
While most luxury hotel brands have long resided in the Maldives, this new resort marks The Ritz-Carlton's first endeavor on the popular island. “Expanding into this destination is something we have had our eye on for a long time, as we continue to evolve our portfolio, [and this] is the perfect moment for us to debut in the Maldives, as luxury travelers continue to seek out opportunities for meaningful exploration and reconnection, as well as destinations that offer access to open spaces and natural beauty,” Donna McNamara, vice president and global brand leader for Ritz-Carlton told Robb Report.
Prices start at $1,500 USD per night for one-bedroom villas, $4,400 USD per night for two-bedroom villas and $22,500 USD per night for the Ritz-Carlton Estate. Head to the resort's website to reserve a stay at the newly opened destination.
