Hyotanya Combines Hokusai's Famous Woodblock Prints With Japan's Highest-Ranked A5 Grade Wagyu Beef

In efforts to put some much-needed eyes on Japan's agriculture and farming industry after taking a big hit from the COVID-19 pandemic, Hyotanya is looking to get people talking about Japan's history of beef and art.

Merging the two worlds together, the Shiga-based Omigyu beef shabu-shabu restaurant along with creative firm Kaya is highlighting Hokusai's famous works from his Thirty-six Views of Mount Fuji series of woodblock prints, combining it with the country's highest-ranked A5 grade beef -- it's ukiyo-e-meets-wagyu.

Each 700g pack of beef comes framed with the artwork, where Hyotanya recommends replacing the empty space where the beef was with red paper after consuming. Priced at ¥13,000 JPY (approximately $108 USD), those interested in learning more can head over to the Hitotema Art Beef Gallery page.
