J. Cole Makes Official Debut in Basketball Africa League

Rapper J.Cole has officially made his Basketball Africa League debut with the Rwanda Patriots Basketball Club this weekend.

Just days after releasing his highly-anticipated sixth studio album, J.Cole played his first game as a professional basketball player. He scored three points, secured three rebounds and made two assists in just under 18 minutes on the court. His first points came as a putback layup off of Steve Hagumintwari's miss in the final minute of the first quarter. In the second quarter, Cole added a free throw on a technical but missed both his field-goal attempts in the second half of the game.

Nonetheless, the Patriots came out victorious, defeating Nigeria's Rivers Hoopers 83-60. Cole is expected to play three to six games with the Patriots. This is not the first time the rapper, now a professional basketball player has stood out in the sport. He played in high school and briefly for St. John's as a walk-on. Cole's debut game was the league's first-ever game.
