Matchbox Announces CarbonNeutral-Certified Die-Cast EV Collection

Mattel's newest Matchbox series of die-cast cars have just been certified CarbonNeutral®. Each car is made from 99 percent recycled materials with a playset and packaging made from 100 percent recycled material -- this lines up with Mattel’s goal to achieve 100% recycled, recyclable or bio-based plastic materials across all its products and packaging by 2030.

“Matchbox is committing to using 100 percent recycled, recyclable or bio-based plastic materials to do our part in addressing the environmental issues we face today, and empower the next generation of Matchbox fans to help steer us towards a sustainable future,” said Roberto Stanichi, Global Head of Vehicles at Mattel.

Enforcing this notion for an era of green Matchbox products, the first series of 1:64-scale cars sees a collection of five EV-themed cars including the Tesla Roadster. The entire Roadster is made from recycled zinc, plastic, and stainless steel. Those interested in picking up some Matchbox CarbonNeutral products can expect a launch early next year.
