According to a survey conducted by the Statistics Bureau of Japan, the demand for instant noodles has skyrocketed due to the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic. Building on the increased demand, Urecon Rankings (powered by TrueData) put together a list of the top instant noodle brands and flavors in Japan for 2021.
Looking at the period between December 1, 2020 and February 28, 2021, the top 10 options enjoyed throughout the nation are incredibly offered by just two companies: Nissin and Toyo Suisan. Coming in at number two and three on the list is Nissin’s classic Cup Noodle and Toyo Suisan’s rich kelp and bonito broth Maruchan Akai Kitsune Udon (East). While the number one spot belongs to Toyo Suisan’s Maruchan Gotsu Mori Sauce Yakisoba, which is interestingly not based on ramen. The take on the beloved fried Japanese noodle features a larger serving defined by an umami-packed sauce.
