Tinder and Lyft have officially launched a partnership that will allow users to gift rides to their dates without leaving the Tinder app. The partnership is a first-of-its-kind, allowing the dating app to focus on creating shared customer ease when making IRL connections.
David Wyler, Tinder's SVP of Business Development and Partnerships said, "We’re excited to partner with Lyft and work on innovative solutions for our members who are looking forward to getting back out there." The app has not revealed the official release date for the Lyft integration onto their apps but has provided a broad statement saying, "Features are slated to roll out in the coming months, and exclusive perks may also be available." Tinder instead has confirmed that Lyft's regular safety features including location sharing with family and friends, will still be accessible and available for these gifted rides.
Though the idea appeals to the convenient user, there are still questions posed regarding when a ride can be ordered or whether the gifted ride would require both parties to agree prior to ordering the ride. It still remains to be seen whether or not Tinder plans to launch this feature soon or after the pandemic.
