Post Malone Covers Country Hits for Matthew McConaughey's Fundraiser

Post Malone embraces his country roots for Matthew McConaughey's We're Texas: Giddy Up to Give Back virtual benefit concert. The concert was held on March 21 as a fundraiser for Texans who have been heavily impacted by the recent devastating winter storm.

Over the weekend, Malone was part of a large lineup of Texas artists who were showcased at McConaughey's fundraiser. He performed two classic country covers to close out the show, following a video message from Stone Cold Steve Austin. Malone sung a laid-back rendition of Brad Paisley's 2002 hit track, "I'm Gonna Miss Her (The Fishin' Song)," followed by a Posty-take on Sturgill Simpson's "You Can Have The Crown." For most, this comes as a surprise as many fans see Post Malone as a hip-hop artist. However, based on this performance, fans are able to see that his influences have extended far beyond the hip-hop realm, and in fact blends into genres similar to rock and country music.

Kacey Musgraves was also a highlight at the virtual event, giving a nod to fellow Texan, Willie Nelson, covering his hit song "On The Road Again". Prior to the performance, Kacey Musgraves recounts the personal invitation to perform at the fundraiser citing, "I don't answer unknown numbers, but for some reason I did and it was Matthew. Obviously it was a hell yes for me. Anything I can do to support and lend a hand."

Khalid and Gary Clark Jr. were also amongst the list of performers who had feature performances for the fundraiser.
