Grand Seiko Pays Homage to Its 1967 44GS With Latest Titanium Hi-Beat 36000 GMT

In celebration of the 55th-anniversary of its legendary 1967 44GS which set the tone for the Japanese watchmaker's design language for the next six decades, Grand Seiko is now introducing the limited-edition SBGJ255 Hi-Beat 36000 GMT.

Taking on the brand's subtle yet emblematic styling, the new dual-time zone watch features a 40mm case constructed from high-intensity titanium finished with Grand Seiko's signature Zaratsu polishing technique. The innovative use of the material is paired with a pristine white dial and clearly legible bar indexes coated in LumiBrite for better functionality in darker environments. A dash of contrasting color can be found on the GMT hour hand as well as we the "GS" logo right below 12 o'clock and the 24-hour markings on the outer chapter ring. As for its movement, the new limited-edition timepiece is powered by Grand Seiko's in-house Hi-Beat 9S86, a 37-jewel caliber carrying a trusty power reserve of 55 hours.

Limited to just 1,200 pieces made, Grand Seiko's new SBGJ255 will go for $8,500 USD and you can learn more over on its website.

Elsewhere in watches, Kross Studio has linked up with designer Alain Silberstein for a Lotus Tourbillon.
