Erin Garcia Releases Vibrant 'Exedra Fantasma' Bowls

Erin D. Garcia is a Los Angeles-based artist whose minimal aesthetic explores the intersection of abstraction and our sensory desire for specificity. Playing off the floral motif he's visited in the past, Garcia has hand-painted a set of bowls for Basic.Space.

The Exedra Fantasma series is made from die-cast aluminum and shaped like sculptural artworks in itself. Within each, Garcia has hand-painted bold flowers through a color palette that is similar to his signature KRINK marker paintings. "I came up with the idea for these pieces on a desert night under a full moon," said the artist, adding that "It was so bright that I noticed the shadows of blue light-soaked Joshua trees and boulders shift as the moon rose into the sky. It was quiet, no wind, not even a sound from the passing jets that blinked across the clouds."

The series is in collaboration with FS Objects and features polished aluminum that is intentionally left unfinished so that it will naturally develop a patina with time and touch. Prices range from $750 USD for the smallest size to $2,0000 for a larger bowl that is fit for fruits. Please visit Basic.Space to purchase.

Elsewhere, French Montana leaks a rare NFT featuring Jean-Michel Basquiat.
