Adding to the outpouring of tributes for Virgil Abloh, Nike has now delivered an official statement honoring the memory of its late icon. The streetwear world was recently shocked to learn that Virgil had lost his private two-year battle with cardiac angiosarcoma, a rare aggressive form of cancer.
The celebration of Virgil from the sportswear brand highlighted his place as part of the Nike, Jordan Brand and Converse family, along with his place as a progressive creative force. Going on to express his place in "challenging the status quo, pushing forward a new vision while inspiring multiple generations along the way."
Since 2016, Virgil Abloh has worked with Nike and its various other labels to create standout collaborative collections. The range of footwear, apparel and accessories, served as moments of excitement that has undoubtedly made a mark on the outlook of streetwear.

We are heartbroken by the news of Virgil Abloh’s passing. Since 2016, Virgil has been a beloved member of the Nike, Jordan and Converse family. But more than a collaborator, colleague and prolific creative, Virgil was a husband, father, son, brother and friend. We are proud to call him family.
