Extending its efforts in sustainability and sourcing responsible materials, renowned design firm Herman Miller has now introduced a new iteration of its iconic Aeron chair constructed using ocean-bound plastic.
Though it still retains its exceptional ergonomics, adjustable PostureFit SL pads for better lumbar support and its Pellicle suspension material for greater comfort, the chair's plastic components have now been created using recycled plastic sourced from ocean pollution, making it the most eco-friendly Aeron Herman Miller has ever manufactured.
"Material innovation has always been a part of our design development at Herman Miller and we're excited to incorporate ocean-bound plastic into our products," the brand says, explaining that the Aeron Chair itself "diverts over 44 metric tons of plastic annually away from the ocean."
For those interested, you can learn more about Herman Miller's sustainability initiatives or purchase the new Aeron over on its website for $1,595 USD.
Elsewhere in design, KUD Properties' "El Cemento Uno House" is a private desert getaway.
