If adidas Originals knows how to do one thing well, it's releasing a retro-style sneaker. Welcome, then, to the all-new (yet oddly familiar) Retropy E5 in "Multicolor" and "Grey/White," which as far as the eye can tell, combines touches of adidas Originals' runners from the 1970s alongside more contemporary inspiration from the not-so-old I-5923, or what's also known as the Iniki.
Bringing the Retropy E5 together is a full-length BOOST midsole, kicking up at the rear before being protected by a '70s runner-like toothed gum outsole on both colorways. For the "Multicolor" pair, a base comprised of orange and dark green canvas working the front and rear respectively is overlayed with blue suede on the toe, vamp, and eyestay, as well as mustard yellow corduroy on the heel clip. An orange leather Trefoil-stamped heel tab and a white tongue with orange adidas branding meet white leather Three Stripes, thus completing the pair.
As for the "Grey/White" iteration, adidas Originals strips things back by using light grey nylon for the base before overlaying the same sections in darker grey suede. A touch of white leather hits up the Three Stripes and heel tab, rounding out the pair.
For those interested in getting their hands on either pair, head over to HBX to cop them now for just $133 USD.
Elsewhere, size? is also throwing it back with its homage-paying Air Huarache.
