East L.A.-based homeware brand Slowdown Studio has made a name for itself with its wildly fun and graphic cushions, rugs, and blankets, and now a selection of its strongest throws have landed on HBX.
The throws -- which on average are sized at 137cm by 178cm -- are made from a cotton-knit construction and feature a fringed edge all around, contrasting the artistic patterns that grace the throws. Each throw is made in collaboration with an independent and/or emerging designer/artist, whose global influences have been implemented into each piece.
For example, the "Jenkins" throw is designed by the St. Louis-based artist Tyler Gross, whose world-renowned illustrations have resulted in numerous awards. His style is playful and popping with color, and for his throw, Gross combines a pink base with a rope of snakes intertwining to create a maze that ends with a smiley face.
Elsewhere, the Honduran artist Mina Wright also uses a blush pink base and interweaves a design of a vase holding flowers, while the Liverpool-based artist Rachel Victoria Hillis opts for something botanical by adding leaves of the Monstera deliciosa -- aka the Swiss Cheese Plant -- which gives us lots of lockdown "time to grow some plants" vibes.
Plenty more throws can be seen above and purchased alongside blankets and prints on HBX now.
