Luxury minimalist Swedish menswear brand Séfr is back for Spring/Summer 2022 with its "Ommi" collection.
Inspired by the text of the poet Mahmoud Darwish (and composition by Lebanese musician Marcel Khalife), "Ommi," or mother, is all about the inevitable journey life takes. With this in mind, the poem speaks on how "that there is no bread nor coffee that tastes as good as the one his mother makes," and overall it is about reflecting on how we are born, we learn, and we make something for ourselves.
For Séfr, this is taken to theoretical realms as the SS22 collection is without fail its most adventurous, advanced, and developed to date -- essentially, Séfr at its very best.
Key pieces such as the Sense Shirt feature "Ommi Embroidery," which sees the Indian viscose shirt covered in embroidery while also sporting a French placket and mélange mother of pearl buttons. Elsewhere, we find the Jules Jacket in "Yellowstone," serving as the label's take on a vintage Americana outerwear, but is elevated by using Japanese faux suede, coconut button front closure, and an exaggerated shirt collar.
Séfr's first-ever bag, the Beiti, is another standout. Made from black Italian calf leather by skilled makers in Portugal, the bag is more than big enough for everyday use but remains luxe with the rough suede inner. Rounding out the collection is its usual staples such as billowing shirts, flared jeans, printed T-shirts, and a personal favorite for us -- the flared blue trousers.
