Learn More About Hong Kong Skate Collective VICTORIA

Photographer and Postcard co-founder Patrik Wallner teams up with Hong Kong skate brand VICTORIA to create a 13-minute cinematic on the brand's unique journey and vision.

VICTORIA was founded in 2015 with the aim to connect generations and communities across Asia. The brand is deeply rooted in skateboarding, music, and art, and draws inspiration from "Hong Kong's juxtaposition of old/new and east/west by incorporating traditional local elements and reinterpreting them in a new and contemporary way."

The short feature follows VICTORIA co-founder Arthur Leung, whose journey started off with bringing up to 30 to 40 boards at a time back from SF to Hong Kong as a flight attendant, before deciding to turn it into a business. After some deliberation on what they wanted to do, Arthur and the other co-founders decided to print skate-inspired merchandise and make their own boards. The new skateboard lines serve as a creative outlet and help diversify different styles for the younger generation outside of the most well-known brands. One board shown in the video features artwork for Brigitte Lin's character in Wong Kar-Wai's iconic Hong Kong film ChungKing Express.

VICTORIA often taps into the creativity of friends in the community, introducing collaborations with designer Yat Pit, and Klasse Wrecks co-founder and DJ Mr. Ho. The end of the film sheds light on mental health and pays tribute to an old friend who played a big part in the brand's development. The Ben Raemers Foundation has been founded with the aim of "breaking down fears, improving knowledge and changing preconceptions and misgivings around mental health stigma and taboos.
