'Dexter' Revival Receives New Trailer and Official Release Date

Showtime has shared a brand new trailer for Dexter: New Blood as well as the revival's official release date.

Premiered during the show's panel at Comic-Con@Home, the forthcoming series will see Dexter Morgan 10 years after the season eight finale in 2013. Original showrunner Clyde Phillips, who also worked on New Blood, revealed that the new season will "pick up with Dexter in another place, in another world, actually, as far away from Miami as possible."

Michael C. Hall, who played the titular serial killer from 2006 to 2013, admitted that the revival was due in large part of the audience's disappointment with the season eight finale. “I think the ending was mystifying, at best, to people — confounding, exasperating, frustrating, on down the line of negative adjectives,” he said. “And I think this is a show that’s very important to all of us and the chance to revisit it and maybe in the process redefine the sense of the show’s ending and the sense of the show’s legacy more broadly was certainly a part of our motivation.”

Joining the Dexter cast is new member Julia Jones, who plays the first Native American Chief of Police named Angela Bishop. The actress called her "dynamic" and "has a lot to overcome," and revealed that she is romantically involved with Dexter.

Watch the new trailer above. Dexter: New Blood premieres November 7.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Michael B. Jordan is reportedly working on a Superman series for HBO Max.
