This Celebrated Nicola Larini-Driven 1996 Alfa Romeo 155 V6 TI ITC Is Headed for Auction

When it comes to the original DTM (1984 to 1996), Alfa Romeo will be a name that immediately jumps out, carving out a place for itself on a track full of heavyweights like BMW, Mercedes, Audi, Ford, and Opel. For many, Alfa Romeo's classic 155 V6 was the pinnacle of touring cars during the race's original days -- collecting an all-time record of 38 victories in DTM.

Now a rare opportunity to own some Touring Car Racing history has been made possible as RM Sotheby's has just listed a very historic iteration of the 155. The car in question is none other than the Nicola Larini piloted Alfa Romeo 155 DTM/ITC Works Touring Car from Alfa Corse. The vehicle has a factory-rated 490 bhp thanks to its 2.5-liter 690RC V6 engine while gears are cycled through via a paddle-operated six-speed semi-sequential transaxle from Xtrac. Collectors will also appreciate the number 5 Alfa Corse-Martini works livery and Larini’s original date-coded race seat and steering wheel.

Other performance specs include an F1-derived inboard suspension system, steel tube frame construction, a reinforced carbon fiber safety cell, and over $420,000 USD worth of overhauls over the course of five years in restoring it back to racing form. Memorable accolades this Chassis 005 possess includes wins at Mugello and Interlagos during the 1996 ITC Season, and a winning debut at DTM Classics Norisring in 2019.

Set to go on sale on June 15, RM Sotheby's estimates that this racing legend will sell somewhere between €700,000 - €800,000 EUR (approximately $855,000 - $978,000 USD).
