Seth Rogen Greets 'Superbad's McLovin a Happy 40th Birthday

Seth Rogen took to social media to celebrate the birthday of the iconic Superbad character, McLovin.

The actor shared a photo of the fake Hawaiian driver's license McLovin used in the 2007 film, which stated that his birthday was on June 3, 1981, falsely making him 26 when the comedy classic came out. "Happy 40th birthday McLovin," Rogen wrote, adding in parenthesis that he and Superbad co-writer Evan Goldberg "wrote this joke when we were 14 years old."

Many popular figures including Joseph Gordon-Levitt, NFL insider Field Yates and filmmaker Lulu Wang also celebrated the character's fake birthday, the latter revealing that Superbad was actually her second job in Hollywood after moving to L.A. "I was a young assistant and “Hollywood” felt intimidating and unattainable, but you, Evan and David were very kind and oh so humble which really gave me the courage to push forward. Thank you," she tweeted to Rogen.

McLovin/Fogell was the breakout role of Chris Mintz-Plasse, who booked the role when he was only 17 years old and used headshots he took from his camera phone for the audition. The actor, who is only 31 years old in real life, also expressed his love for the character on his Instagram Story. "My character turns 40 today and it's insane to me that it's a huge deal," he wrote on top of a photo of the fake I.D.

Prior to McLovin's birthday, Blake Griffin showed off a pair of McLovin-themed Air Jordan 35s, with one of the tongues featuring a similar Hawaiian driver's license including the NBA player's face and the name McGriffin.

Elsewhere in entertainment, Netflix is inviting all Money Heist fans to put their skills to the test in Money Heist: The Experience.
