It's set to be a busy summer for Virgil Abloh, Off-White™ and Nike, Inc: just days after revealing release info for the 50-shoe Off-White™ x Nike Dunk Low "Dear Summer" collection, we've been given a first look at the Off-White™ x Air Jordan 2 Low in two colorways. Utilizing a more under-the-radar silhouette than Abloh's previous Jordan Brand collaborative choices — the Air Jordan 1, Air Jordan 4 and Air Jordan 5 — this new design features aged detailing, special branded hits, bold colors and more.
The first of the two styles revealed is a colorway that's reminiscent of the Air Jordan 2 Low "Varsity Red" and covered in weathered details straight out of 1986. Midsoles feature a trompe l'oeil-style print that makes them appear as if they're cracked and crumbling, Michael Jordan's printed signature graces the lateral collar and the collar itself features exposed foam construction. The rest of the details are more familiar, with Abloh's signature plastic zip tie taking up residence on the laces and Helvetica text stamped on the medial quarter. The look is finished by co-branded insoles and two sets of "SHOELACES" in cream and black.
The second pair, which only appears in a single photo, features a more "current" look by eschewing the aged build of its compatriot for a simple construction. It's done up in black with rich concord purple details, coral laces and an orange zip tie. Michael Jordan's signature returns as well, but it's on the lateral quarter and is presented in silver instead of black.
At the time of writing, an official release date and details for the Off-White™ x Air Jordan 2 Low have yet to be announced. However, as 2021 marks the 35th anniversary of the Air Jordan 2, it's possible that this duo of pairs may serve as a lead-in to an in-line rollout of the AJ 2 Low later in the year.
