Liverpool and Nike Celebrate the Club's Iconic Red for 2021/22 Season

For the 2021/22 season, Liverpool will step out in a home kit inspired by the one the club wore in 1964. That year was the first time that the club wore an all-red kit -- replacing the red and white design -- which is credited with giving the team a psychological advantage when the kit made its debut.

The new Nike jersey pays tribute to the affect the flooded red kit had on the opposition, with hits of "Bright Crimson" appearing around the collar and sleeves, while bolted pinstripes run diagonally across the shirt. The red and "Bright Crimson" is complemented by green neck tape and the use of a "Fossil" color for the crest and Swoosh.

Launching the kit, Liverpool defender Virgil Van Dijk said, "It’s great to see the perfect blend of our heritage and Nike’s product innovation for our new home kit. Being part of the Swoosh family for years, they’ve been at the forefront of sustainable design and it goes a long way into making our sport a greener one."

Liverpool will debut the kit on May 23. The full kit is available now for Nike members, before its full release on June 3.
