Airbnb Bookings Across the U.S. Have Surpassed Pre-Pandemic Levels

As the countries around the world begin to emerge from their respective lockdowns, online booking platform Airbnb has predicted a travel rebound unlike anything we have seen before.

After reporting that bookings across the U.S. for the first quarter of 2021 had beaten pre-pandemic levels, the platform also announced “steady improvements” across both the U.K. and France too.

Despite the San Francisco-based firm’s revenue rising to over $800m USD year-on-year, its net loss before tax sat at approximately $60m USD, but things are on the rise with overall bookings shooting up by 52% to $10.3billion USD so far this year.

In a recent interview with BBC, Airbnb co-founder and chief executive Brian Chesky said: "While conditions aren't yet normal, they are improving, and we expect a travel rebound unlike anything we have seen before.

Although all this does pose a reason to be optimistic, the company did admit that it was too early to give financial projections for the rest of 2021.

In other news, the reclusive Dogecoin co-creator has surfaced to call Elon Musk a "self-absorbed grifter".
