Nordstrom and Dover Street Market Paris have entered into an official partnership to highlight up-and-coming designers. This is the first time fashion aficionados see the Comme des Garçons-owned concept retail store join forces with another retailer to establish a shop-in-shop experience. Not only does this expand the overall reach for Nordstrom but it will also help DSM to broaden its current target market.
The announcement reveals yet another sign of the ongoing retail evolution in the current unprecedented times. In the next six weeks, Nordstrom's Space boutiques in Vancouver, New York, Los Angeles and online are expected to feature the seven different labels supported by DSM's emerging designers platform, Dover Street Market Paris. Some of these brands include the Gosha Rubchinskiy-founded Rassvet, New York collective Vaquera and Singapore-based Youths in Balaclava. The space usually stocks a blend of both emerging and established brands, such as Comme des Garçons, Jacquemus, Marine Serre and Wales Bonner.
Each of the emerging brands' Spring/Summer 2021 collections are set to be available for purchase at the Nordstrom locations. WWD obtained a quote from Olivia Kim, VP of Creative Projects and Home at Nordstrom stating, "We started SPACE five years ago as a platform to support emerging designers, provide continued newness, and inspire a sense of discovery for the Nordstrom customer. We have a long-standing relationship with the Comme des Garçons and Dover Street Market team, and when we heard that they had created a division to support emerging designers, we knew we had to approach them about this concept as it aligns so closely with our mission."
