Hong Kong and Singapore to Launch Quarantine-Free Travel Bubble

Hong Kong and Singapore are set to launch their long-postponed travel bubble starting May 26, 2021. The bubble allows visitors who are traveling between the two cities to enter quarantine-free since both sides have proved to be sufficient in containing COVID-19 outbreaks.

The arrangements were announced earlier this week confirming that Hong Kong individuals who wish to travel to Singapore must receive their second vaccine dose two weeks prior to departing for Singapore. Singapore is set to impose a similar rule on its own residents. Those who are medically advised against the vaccination or are below the age of 16 will be exempted from the vaccination rule. Anyone who currently lives in Singapore and Hong Kong is deemed eligible for the bubble regardless of nationality.

Only one designated flight carrying 200 passengers will be allowed from each side daily. However, it is expected that the frequency will be increased to two flights per day beginning June 10 if the coronavirus situation remains stable.

Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines will make the first bubble flights between Hong Kong to Singapore on May 26, 2021.

In other travel news, United Airlines unveiled plans to fund more sustainable aviation fuel.
