'Diablo II: Resurrected' Is Set To Launch This Weekend

While there's no official release date yet for the highly-anticipated remaster, Blizzard is nonetheless making good progress with Diablo II: Resurrected, launching its first private alpha this weekend.

The technical alpha test will be by invitation only, and a few lucky players out there who have opted in will be able to test out the game from April 9 through to 12. For this version, you'll be able to choose from three of the final seven classes in the game: the melee-focused Barbarian, the agility-based Amazon, or the spellcaster Sorceress. There won't be any level caps, and players can run through every level from the sacred Monastery where you'll fight the Maiden of Anguish, Andariel, to the desolate deserts of Lut Gholein, where you'll be able to take on the Lord of Pain, Duriel.  Blizzard will be focusing on the single-player aspect of the remaster since multiplayer has never been that big of a component in the game.

For fans of the franchise, you can learn more about Diablo II: Resurrected from the developer's deep dive in the video above or over on the game's official website.

Elsewhere in gaming, a new startup is letting gamers bet on themselves during head-to-head matches.
