After months and months of teasers and previews, Lil Nas X has finally dropped off his brand new single "MONTERO (Call Me By Your Name)."
Clocking in at just a little over two minutes, the track features production from Take a Daytrip, Fedi and Roy Lenzo and is titled after the artist's legal name, Montero Lamar Hill, and the novel by André Aciman/film adaptation that starred Armie Hammer and Timotheé Chalamet. Lil Nas X touches on intimate relationships, sexuality and fame, dropping lines like "Never want the n***as that's in my league / I want to f*ck the ones I envy" and "Call me by your name / You told me you loved me in private / Call me by your name / I do not care if you lyin'."
"MONTERO" follows the release of his November 2020 single "HOLIDAY," and both tracks are expected to appear on his upcoming debut studio album. Lil Nas X has evidently been hard at work on the project, remaining relatively quiet on the music front since his GRAMMY-nominated debut EP, 7.
